As much as I dislike Harvard-worship, this is a good local piece on warring planning philosophies.
i'd be interested to know where our architect friends stand on this topic. and, with president obama's recent commitment to high speed rail, i wonder if there's a way to incorporate our existing suburbs into a forward-thinking architectural theory.
